1 dead, 2 hospitalized following early-morning pin-in crash on I-35

AUSTIN, TX – One person was killed, and another two people were injured following a three-vehicle pin-in collision on I-35 early this morning, according to the Austin-Travis County EMS.


The accident occurred in the 9900 block of N I-35 northbound at about 2 a.m., when three vehicles collided.

One person was pinned within the wreckage for a short time. By 2:17 a.m., authorities had managed to free the victim and had begun to administer CPR. Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by 2:36 a.m.

Two other people were taken to the hospital in Round Rock with non-critical injuries.

A fourth person refused treatment at the scene.

Authorities advised drivers to avoid the area, and to expect closures as the accident was being investigated.
