Boy injured after driver falls asleep at wheel, causing SW San Antonio crash

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A boy was taken to the hospital after a collision that involved a driver falling asleep and allegedly intoxicated driving in southwest San Antonio early this morning.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, the accident happened near the intersection of Merry Oaks and Stonybrook Drives just before 4 a.m. after the driver of an SUV fell asleep at the wheel.

The driver then collided with a truck, in which a driver was allegedly intoxicated while his son was riding in the vehicle with him.

The son was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, one of which was a head wound.

The identities of the drivers and the child have not been released at this time.

The truck driver has been charged with DUI with a child in the car, according to the report.
