Child and 5 adults injured in multi-vehicle crash on Hwy 183

AUSTIN, TX – Six people, including a child, were injured in a pin-in collision on Highway 183 earlier this evening, according to the Austin-Travis County EMS.

The accident occurred in the 9900 block of S Highway 183, near Maha Loop, at 7:57 p.m., when multiple vehicles collided.

One person was pinned within the wreckage of the crash for a time.

Authorities declared all six patients to be trauma alerts.

A child was taken to Dell Children’s with severe, life-threatening injuries.

Authorities took two adults to South Austin Medical, with one of them suffering critical, life-threatening wounds, and the other sustaining serious injuries that were possibly life-threatening.

Two other adults were taken to Dell Seton with severe wounds that were not expected to be life-threatening.

The final patient was taken to South Austin for the treatment of non-critical wounds.

The cause of the crash and the identities of the victims were not immediately released.
