SAN ANTONIO, TX – A San Antonio firefighter was transported to the hospital after suffering a medical episode while responding to a residential fire Wednesday morning.

According to My San Antonio, officials responded to the blaze at a single-story house within the 1700 block of Ann Arbor Drive shortly after 2:00 a.m. Initial reports were of victims still trapped inside the home. However, firefighters discovered the only occupant attempting to extinguish the fire using a garden hose in the back yard.

One firefighter suffered an unidentified medical issue during the fire and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. He is expected to recover.
