Lawsuit against negligent APD officer that lead a fatal crash

AUSTIN, TX – According to KXAN, The City of Austin and an Austin Police Department officer are being sued after a traffic stop pursuit resulted in a fatal crash in September 2019.

A high speed chase occurred when an officer attempted to pull over a truck, but the driver refused to stop.

During the chase, the driver of the truck died when they ran a red light and hit another vehicle at East Parmer Lane and Dessau Road intersection. The lawsuit was filed by the occupants of  the vehicle the truck hit.

Sunju Hong’s attorneys claim that Officer Richard Bozelli did not follow the department policy and should not have attempted the dangerous pursuit.

Bozelli was suspended for 10 days for failing to properly stop the chase in March.
