Man injured after setting house in North Loop area on fire, AFD says

AUSTIN, TX – The Austin Fire Department says that a man deliberately set a home in the North Loop area on fire yesterday morning and was injured as a result.


The incident occurred at 5214 Avenue H, near E 52nd Street and E 53rd Street at 7:29 a.m., when a man allegedly set a single-family home ablaze.

The man was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation injuries.

Authorities determined he deliberately set the home on fire, causing $275,000 worth of damage to the structure and $10,000 to the contents of the home. The house was determined to be a total loss.

The victim will be taken to jail after his release from the hospital.
