Pedestrian killed in early morning crash

TRAVIS COUNTY, TX – A pedestrian walking along Texas Route 71 west of Austin was struck and killed by a vehicle early Wednesday morning.

According to the Austin American Statesman, officials responded to the incident at the 23000 block of Texas 71 around 6:10 a.m. EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

No information on the driver or pedestrian involved has been released as of yet. The westbound lanes along this portion of 71 have been closed. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office recommends motorists avoid the area until the investigation is complete and the road reopened.
