Police officer struck by vehicle
HOUSTON, TX – KHOU reports a Houston police officer was struck by a SUV as the driver attempted to get away on May 30.
The incident happened near the Emancipation and Jefferson intersection.
According to police, several men were recording a YouTube video in a parking lot when another male stranger tried to get in the video. When they asked the male stranger to leave, he pulled out a piece of wood with a nail in it and hit one of the men on the head and proceeded to also hit his vehicle.
Houston police noticed the incident from a far while they patrolled the downtown protestors.
When the suspect noticed the authorities rushing over, the male got back in his SUV and drove through the officers, hitting one and sending her six to eight feet in the air.
The officer is now recovering in the hospital and is expected to be OK.
The man who was hit by the board is also expected to be OK, he just had bruising on his head.
The hit-and-run driver is in custody.
