South Austin Beer Garden Didn’t Let DUI Suspect In

South Austin Beer Garden confirmed that they didn’t let a fatal DUI crash suspect in their establishment until the police were called in, according to a February 19 article by KVUE.

The incident occurred in the 10000 block of Menchaca Road around 10:30 PM on Saturday, February 15. 24-year-old Paul Joseph Garcia Jr. was found at the South Austin Beer Garden after he ran over 55-year-old Lee Martin Cagle. David Pearce, the co-owner of the South Austin Beer Garden, said he and his staff didn’t let him in their building because Garcia wasn’t wearing shoes. Pearce then called the police for help.
