State Trooper sent to hospital after crash near teacher protest

AUSTIN, TX – A crash involving a car and a police motorcycle this morning sent a state trooper to the hospital, according to KXAN.

The accident happened just before 11:30 a.m. at Lavaca Street and 15th Street, near a teacher-led demonstration protesting the planned reopening of Texas schools.

The officer had his emergency lights on and was driving through the intersection when a 2006 Mazda turned left, into his pathway. The Mazda collided with the motorcycle, sending the trooper to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

The identities of the officer and the driver of the Mazda have not yet been released.
