Two injured after firetruck crashes into tree

BRIARCLIFF, TX – Two firefighters were injured on Saturday when a fire truck crashed into a tree during a Memorial Day parade.

A firefighter crew with the Pedernales Fire Department was driving Fire Engine 801 as a part of the annual parade on May 23. At 10:30 a.m. the truck’s driver lost consciousness behind the wheel.

According to Fox 7 Austin, the fire engine crashed into a tree near the intersection of Moffat Drive and Cowal Drive. The truck was moving at approximately 20 miles per hour when the accident occurred.

Two crew members on the truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, and they were transported to the hospital for treatment. The crew members have now been released from the hospital.

No bystanders participating in the parade were injured in the accident.
