Two killed, nine ejected in IH-35 rollover accident

SAN MARCOS, TX – Two people were killed in an accident in San Marcos last night that involved a blown tire and led to the ejection of nine out of ten of the passengers, including five children.

According to a report by Fox 7 Austin, the accident occurred just before 7:45 p.m. at 200 Interstate 35 North when the five adults and five children inside the vehicle were traveling from San Antonio to a family event in Austin.

Witness reports say that a white 2002 Ford Explorer traveled off the highway and rolled over multiple times, leading to the ejection of nine people from the vehicle.

One of the victims, Destiny Bridges, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

All five adults and three of the children, ages 7, 8, and 9, were taken to the hospital in “critical, unstable condition.” The other two children, ages 8 and 10, did not need to go to the hospital.

The other fatality of the accident, Sean Thompson, 31, died at the hospital from crash-related injuries.

A blown tire and high speeds are being considered as factors in the accident.

The vehicle was meant to hold only five occupants, say police.

It’s believed that only the driver was wearing a seatbelt.

The accident is under investigation at this time.
