UPDATE: Police identify pedestrian killed in East Austin crash

AUSTIN, TX – Authorities in East Austin have released the identity of the pedestrian killed in a previously reported late-night crash last Friday.

The incident occurred within the 900 block of Old Bastrop Highway on Friday, July 24th. According to police,  69-year-old Gilbert Hernandez Cortinas was struck by a 2006 Toyota Sienna traveling north along the highway.

Paramedics attempted life-saving measures on the victim but were unsuccessful, and Hernandez has pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained on the scene to render assistance to the victim. No information on what led up to the crash has been released.
