Van Ormy Police officer hospitalized after being struck by vehicle on I-35
SAN ANTONIO, TX – One police officer was airlifted to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle along I-35 early Friday morning.
According to KSAT, the officer was assisting in traffic control following a tractor-trailer accident on I-35 near Loop 1604 at about 1:30 a.m. Investigators say the officer was exiting his patrol car when another vehicle careened into the driver’s side rear door, striking the officer in the process.
The officer was airlifted to University Hospital to be treated for a potentially life-threatening head injury immediately following the crash.
The driver involved was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
