Auto-pedestrian accident reported on Gulf Freeway
HOUSTON, TX- A pedestrian who walking across the Gulf Freeway was hit and killed on April 9th, KTRK reports.
The crash happened at 11:45p.m. near Telephone Road as the pedestrian was continuously crossing the freeway. The pedestrian went back and forth across the northbound lanes several times before he was hit.
It is reported that the driver did attempt to stop the vehicle from hitting the person, but was ultimately unable to.
The accident left the vehicle heavily damaged in the front. The damage included a broken windshield.
Traffic was affected that night as the northbound lanes of the freeway were closed near Wayside Dr.
As the investigation into this case develops, authorities are looking into whether the driver was intoxicated as there were some signs of impairment when law enforcement arrived on the scene.
