Crash involving semi blocks part of US-290 EB for hours near Hockley
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — The right lane and shoulder of eastbound U.S. Highway 290, northwest of Houston, was closed Thursday morning following a collision, according to Houston Transtar.
The accident impacted the eastbound lanes of US-290 (Northwest Freeway) before the Grand Parkway (State Highway 99), in the unincorporated area of Hockley. It was verified by officials at 8:27 a.m.
Although it remains unclear what caused the wreck, two vehicles, including a semi-truck, were involved.
The lane closure remained in place as of 11:00 a.m., more than 2.5 hours after the initial report, suggesting a major crash and a more involved emergency response.
No information regarding potential injuries has been released at this time.
