Driver hospitalized after pursuit, crash off US-59 near NE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A man who was involved in a northeast Houston parking lot takeover Thursday night was sent to the hospital after a police pursuit and crash, according to Click2Houston.
Houston Police Department officials said officers began pursuing a suspect from a parking lot in the area of East Mt. Houston Road and U.S. Highway 59 (Interstate 69/Eastex Freeway).
Preliminary details show the fleeing suspect crashed a truck off the northbound feeder road before the vehicle hit a light pole and then overturned.
A woman who was in the truck’s passenger seat was able to exit the vehicle by herself, but officials had to extricate the driver, who was left trapped in the wreckage. The driver, whose condition was unclear, was then taken to an area hospital.
Authorities said the suspect could be charged with felony evasion at the minimum.
