Driver rescued, hospitalized after rollover big rig crash on I-45 in north Houston
HOUSTON, TX — Firefighters rescued a driver Wednesday morning after a box truck overturned near the edge of an Interstate 25 overpass in north Houston, reports ABC13.
Shortly before 8:23 a.m., crews were dispatched to the scene on the southbound lanes of the I-45 North Freeway near Crosstimbers Street, in the city’s Independence Heights neighborhood.
Officials have not specified the cause of the rollover, but firefighters arrived to find the semi rolled over on the HOV exit lane and at least partially hanging off the overpass.
After being extricated from the big rig via harness, the driver and sole occupant was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. No information about the patient’s condition has been disclosed at this time.
Crews had the southbound highway blocked off as they worked to get the truck upright.
