Driver strikes, kills pedestrian on Garrett Road
HOUSTON, TX – A driver fatally collided with a pedestrian on the 13900 block of Garrett Road on Wednesday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Valentine Gaona was driving a silver 2022 Chevrolet Silverado east on Garrett Road as Daniel Smithson was jumping in and out of traffic. Gaona hit Smithson around 5:21 a.m.
First responders transported Smithson to an area hospital, where he died at 6:27 a.m.
Following the collision, Gaona remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Deputies determined Gaona was not impaired.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident.
