Fire during car crash leaves SUV driver deceased on I-45
HARRIS COUNTY, TX- An SUV driver rear-ended a semitruck on I-45 and then crashed into a structure, causing a fire which claimed the driver’s life on Feb. 14th.
KTRK reported on this tragic accident which happened around 2:30a.m. near Hardy Toll Road.
Authorities believe that the SUV driver attempted to speed past the semi, after driving behind it for some time. It was at this point of passing the semi that the SUV rammed into the wall on the side of the interstate, igniting a fire.
The only person in the SUV died in that fiery crash. The semitruck driver was unharmed and was cooperated with authorities once they arrived.
Traffic in that area was being rerouted due to the crash as the northbound lanes were closed for a few hours.
