Hit-and-run incident on Watters Road leaves 1 dead
PASADENA, TX- Jovonnie Castillo, 24, died shortly after a GMC Sierra ran him over at 5:30p.m. on Jan. 28th as he crossed Watters Rd, KHOU reports.
Castillo’s sister, Christina, explained that Jovonnie had just celebrated his six year-old son’s birthday when he was hit by a car walking to a nearby ATM. The car struck Castillo when he was at Watters Rd. and Fairmont Parkway. All the family was back at the apartment still celebrating.
The family was made aware of the incident by a neighbor screaming the name of Jovonnie’s mother. The neighbor had identified Jovonnie by the clothes he was wearing.
Castillo was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later and his life was remembered in a funeral service at the J. Leal Funeral Home on Feb. 6th.
The driver sped off as soon as the accident occurred. Authorities believe that the vehicle used during the accident has oversized mirrors, chrome trim, a lift kit, black tire rims and a bed cover. This suspected vehicle is also thought to not have license plates in the front.
