Intoxicated driver held responsible for death of passenger on N. Freeway
HOUSTON, TX- Jorge Velasquez Torres was driving intoxicated when his passenger fell out of the car and died on North Freeway on Feb. 12th, the HPD reports.
It was claimed by Torres that the woman had also been drinking and that she worked to get herself out of the car. There was an argument occurring at the time the victim opened the door and fell onto the actual lane of 3000 North Freeway.
Both Torres and the woman had gone out drinking beforehand, and Torres was found to be under the influence when the tragic accident occurred around 9:40p.m. The 25 year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 23 year-old Torres was charged by Harris County Criminal Court # 2 but there is still an investigation being conducted on the accident.
