Motorcyclist dies in crash on I-45 while eluding police
GALVESTON, TX – According to ABC 13, a 30-year-old male motorcyclist died after he collided with another vehicle on I-45 while fleeing from police on Monday.
First responders were dispatched to a wreck on the 41000 block of Seawall Blvd around 12:40 a.m. A motorcyclist had crashed, causing his 51-year-old female passenger to be ejected from the bike. Rescue crews transported her to an area hospital in critical condition. The motorcyclist fled from the scene.
Officers located the motorcyclist near 45th St and Seawall Blvd. They attempted to stop him, but the motorcyclist continued to elude police. He left the island on I-45 and slammed into a pickup truck in La Marque.
Rescue crews pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
Crews shut down the northbound lanes of I-45 for six hours to investigate the incident and clear the scene.
The incident is under investigation by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials will release the motorcyclist’s name once his next of kin have been notified.
