Tesla engulfed in flames in West Austin DWI accident
AUSTIN, TX- A young driver in a Tesla slammed into a pole overnight Thursday, causing a massive vehicle fire according to ABC 13.
The crash happened at approximately 1:30am when an intoxicated juvenile driver collided with a traffic pole, causing the Tesla to catch on fire. Officials responded to the accident, allegedly using over 40 times the amount of water they would use for a normal car fire, given that Teslas are electric.
The driver was able to remove himself from the vehicle without the assistance of officials. No injuries have been reported at this time, however, the driver has been charged with driving under the influence. We will be monitoring for updates.
