Massive fire caused by trucks closes 610 N. Loop for hours
HOUSTON, TX – The traffic on 610 N. Loop was severely affected on Feb 16th when a multi-truck accident occurred and ignited a large fire, KHOU reports.
Around 5a.m., a fuel tanker was attempting to enter 610 North Loop near Wayside Drive when it had problems with its brakes. A trash truck behind it crashed into a third truck, and both of these vehicles crashed into the fuel truck which had the brake problem.
The collision caused the fuel tanker to ignite and the fire remained burning for hours. Those responding to the call faced some difficulties with getting enough water to fight the fire, and that added to the time that the fire burned. Some of the signage and pavement on 610 were ruined from the flames.
Thankfully, none of the truck operators were hurt in the incident. Ravinder Singh was one of those truck drivers involved and described the fire as being something he’s never experienced. He has been a truck driver for 20 years.
