Woman hit, killed by vehicle after exiting stalled car in SW Spring

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A woman died early Saturday after being hit by a vehicle while standing outside of her own car in southwest Spring, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal incident occurred in the 4400 block of Spring Cypress Road at around 5:30 a.m.

A preliminary investigation shows a driver in a silver Nissan Sentra was heading eastbound in the outside lane of the road when they approached a white Lincoln Navigator that was stalled in the eastbound outside lane with its lights turned off. To avoid a crash, the Nissan driver swerved to the left from the outside lane. As the Nissan returned to the inside lane, the front of the vehicle hit the driver of the Navigator, who had exited her car from the Navigator’s driver’s side. Authorities said the Navigator driver had not seen the woman due to poor lighting.

Paramedics arrived to find the victim with no signs of life at the scene.

Authorities said the driver of the Navigator did not display any signs of impairment.

An investigation by the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division remains in progress.
