Man hit, killed by tractor-trailer on Federal Rd in east Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A 23-year-old man died early Wednesday after a pedestrian crash involving a big rig in east Houston’s Northshore neighborhood, reports the Houston Police Department.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the fatal incident occurred in the 1300 block of Federal Road, at around 3:05 a.m.
An early investigation indicates a purple Peterbilt tractor-trailer truck was heading northbound on the road when it hit the male pedestrian in the roadway.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
Officials have not indicated a possible cause of the crash, but the driver of the 18-wheeler stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers before being released.
An investigation remains in progress. As of this writing, impairment on the driver’s part has been ruled out as a contributing factor.
