Multi-vehicle crash on Eastex Fwy in NE Houston claims life of driver
HOUSTON, TX — A crash involving four vehicles early Sunday in Houston’s Eastex/Jensen area claimed a driver’s life and left another injured, reports the Houston Police Department.
The events unfolded near 10101 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59/Interstate 69) at around 3:05 a.m.
Investigators say a 63-year-old man was driving a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck southbound when, for reasons still unclear, the vehicle veered across several lanes and hit a concrete wall. Moments later, the Chevrolet was struck by a blue Dodge Ram pickup, which was then hit by a third vehicle after arriving at a stop. The Chevrolet was also struck by a fourth vehicle.
The driver of the Chevrolet suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department.
The driver of the Dodge sustained minor injuries, while the other two drivers were not reported hurt.
An investigation by the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division remains open and ongoing. No pending charges have been reported as of this writing.
