UPDATE: DWI suspect charged after fatal wrong-way crash in SE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A 51-year-old man was arrested and charged following a crash Saturday, December 2, that claimed the life of another person in southeast Houston, reports the Houston Police Department.
The fatal wreck occurred in the 1300 block of Central Street at around 10:55 p.m.
Investigators say Gustavo Izaguirre was operating a blue Dodge Dakota pickup truck southbound while in the northbound side of the road. At one point, the Dodge collided head-on with an oncoming blue Kia Sportage.
Responding paramedics pronounced the driver of the Kia, a 43-year-old man, deceased at the scene. His identity has not been made public at this time.
Izaguirre, who sustained injuries considered non-life-threatening, was taken to a local hospital. He was later charged with intoxication manslaughter after he was determined to be impaired. He was transported and booked into Harris County Jail following his hospital release.
