DWI suspect arrested after fatal crash on Katy Fwy in west Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A 32-year-old woman has been charged with intoxicated assault following a crash early Saturday, September 16, that fatally injured another person, reports the Houston Police Department.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the wreck occurred at 8000 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10), in the Spring Branch West area. It was first reported at about 1:40 a.m.
Preliminary details indicate a westbound driver in a gray Dodge Ram tow truck stopped to help two drivers whose Chevrolet Equinox and Mercedes A220 were involved in a minor wreck. Authorities say that the two involved drivers were standing outside their vehicles. At one point, a gray Jeep Wrangler traveling westbound collided with the back of the Dodge pickup, the back of the Mercedes, and then the driver of the Equinox, a 31-year-old man.
The victim was rushed by Houston Fire Department paramedics to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. On Sunday, December 17, officials confirmed that he was pronounced deceased. His identity is being withheld at this time.
Following the crash, the driver of the Jeep, identified as Asya Marshall, was taken into custody. She was charged for her role in the fatal wreck after it was determined that she was intoxicated.
