Motorcyclist killed in crash with tanker truck near Houston Farms
HOUSTON, TX — One person died last Thursday, January 18, after their motorcycle collided with a Peterbilt tanker truck on the Crosby Freeway in northeast Houston, reports the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal wreck took place in the 15100 block of the freeway at around 2:00 p.m.
According to the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division, Moises Monge was driving a yellow Peterbilt tanker truck eastbound in the right-turn lane of the above location. At the same time, the male victim, who was operating a red Yamaha motorcycle eastbound, and at a high rate of speed, on the outside improved shoulder. The truck had made a stop at the stop sign at 7900 Miller Road and was making a right turn when the Yamaha failed to stop at the stop sign while still on the outside improved shoulder. Moments later, the bike lost control and collided with the tanker truck’s right side.
Southlake EMS personnel pronounced the rider deceased shortly after. His identity remains unknown or undisclosed at this time.
Monge, who stayed at the scene following the event, was not believed to be intoxicated.
An investigation by the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division remains in progress.
