2 killed, 1 injured in pedestrian accident on US-290 in Cypress
CYPRESS, TX – Two people were killed and a third was sent to the hospital this morning after they were hit by a truck while parked on US-290 in Cypress.
According to KHOU, the incident occurred at about 5:10 pm. in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Mason Road.
Investigators believe an occupant of the passenger vehicle began assaulting the driver for unknown reasons. The driver then stopped the vehicle on the shoulder as all three occupants got out. At this point, an oncoming truck slammed into the rear of the passenger vehicle, hitting those gathered around it in the process.
The two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to a local hospital in fair condition.
The truck’s driver suffered minor injuries in the wreck.
