Assault in vehicle results in fatal car accident on Highway 290
HARRIS COUNTY, TX- Several people were killed or injured when a truck hit a car on 290 on Friday, ABC 13 reports.
At 5:20a.m. on Friday morning, a vehicle containing a driver and two passengers stopped on the side of Highway 290 near Mason Road. One of the passengers had begun assailing the driver while they were driving. Once the driver stopped the car , all three passengers got out of the vehicle in the inside lane.
A truck then crashed into the parked vehicle, simultaneously hitting the two passengers.
Both passengers were dead when first responders arrived. The drivers of both vehicles were injured but did not sustain life threatening injuries.
Authorities reported that it does not seem that anyone was driving under the influence. It is believed that the assaulted driver was giving the passengers a ride to their car after a homecoming event.
The inbound lanes on Highway 290 in that immediate area were closed as a result of the crash.
