Three car crash on HW 59 leaves 6 dead, 5 injured
GEORGE WEST, TX- A crash left 6 dead and 5 injured when a minivan tried to pass a car on HW 59 and ended up hitting two other cars on Jan 30th, ABC13 reports.
At 6:20p.m., Xochitl Veronica Lopez, 39, was passing another car on HW 59 in her minivan when her car struck an SUV head-on. The SUV was then rear-ended by a sedan.
The car that Lopez was attempting to pass was able to avoid being involved in the accident.
Lopez and a passenger under 18 died in the minivan.
Someone in the sedan also died, but they have not been identified.
Salvador Almeda Mendoza, 47, Ilda Briones Nieves, 58, and Honorio Lazo Navarro, 74, all died in the SUV.
Five people in the vehicles were also injured. They all had to be hospitalized.
At this time, alcohol and drugs do not seem to be a cause of the accident.
The investigation into this case is currently ongoing.
