Car strikes HPD vehicle on HW 59
HOUSTON, TX- A car hit an on-duty police vehicle on Highway 59 near FM 1960 on Jan. 8th, KHOU11 reports.
The at-fault driver was suspected of speeding and being intoxicated when he hit the police officer. The officer was hit while patrolling a cleared off intersection. The intersection had been cleared due to a chase the police were dealing with before this crash.
There were injuries sustained by both drivers but both are expected to survive. The exact extent of their injuries has not been made clear.
The Humble Police Department responded to the call. The southbound lanes were shut off for some time as authorities investigated.
No injuries were reported.
