San Antonio high-speed chase results in crash involving police cruiser

SAN ANTONIO, TX – San Antonio police have one person in custody following a pursuit that reached speeds over 100 mph and resulted in a crash Tuesday night.

According to KENS, the pursuit began at about 9:00 p.m. when a Texas DPS Trooper initiated a traffic stop along I-10 near US 290. The chase lasted nearly 45 minutes and involved officers from both the DPS and the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

At one point during the pursuit, the suspect struck the front end of a patrol car and proceeded to evade police for several miles before hitting railroad tracks along Southwest Military Drive. They were taken into custody on charges of evading police and aggravated assault on a police officer.

The suspect’s motive for evading police remains unknown at this time.
