Suspected impaired driver fatally strikes man on the side of I-10 Katy Freeway
HOUSTON, TX- A man was killed outside of his parked car on the side of I-10 when he was hit by a suspected drunk driver on Feb. 18th, Click2Houston reports.
The parked car needed to be filled up with gas, so the owner was filling it up after having taken an Uber to get gas. Around 3:45a.m., a driver, who authorities suspect may have been intoxicated, drove by and hit the man as he was filling up the car with gasoline.
This happened near Gessner Road.
The victim died at the scene, and authorities found the suspect with his Toyota pickup at the scene. The crash had damaged the Toyota enough that it could not keep driving.
The at-fault driver most likely faces charges for driving while intoxicated.
Westbound traffic in this area of I-10 was impacted from the crash.
