Woman dies after being struck by pickup truck in Houston’s Little Saigon
HOUSTON, TX — A 25-year-old woman was fatally hit by a vehicle Wednesday night after falling while crossing Beechnut Street in southwest Houston, reports the Houston Police Department.
Authorities were dispatched to the scene in the 10800 block of the road, near Wazobia African Market, shortly after 8:05 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the woman was stumbling as she crossed the eastbound side of Beechnut Street. A 61-year-old man was driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound when the vehicle hit the woman moments after she fell onto the roadway.
Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The driver, who stayed after the crash and cooperated with authorities, was determined not to be impaired and was released from the scene.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate.
