1 charged, 1 killed in crash near TX-62, CR 826
JASPER CO., TX – A drunk driver struck and fatally injured a 31-year-old woman along the highway near Buna on Tuesday night, reports KFDM 6.
Emergency crews responded to an auto-pedestrian crash around 8 p.m. on TX-62 near County Road 826, or Gist Road. This is near Lazy D&D RV Park and Cherry Grove Baptist Church.
The investigation indicates that 39-year-old Cody Clark showed signs of intoxication when he struck Britany Esquivel along the highway. Esquivel died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Authorities arrested Clark on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
Both the north and southbound sides of TX-82 were closed Tuesday night while emergency crews worked at the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
