1 dead following multi-vehicle crash near Brookhollow West
HOUSTON, TX – A driver fatally struck a tow truck driver as he was loading a disabled vehicle onto a wrecker on the 15200 block of NW Fwy on Tuesday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Elieser Alonso was driving a white 2019 Dodge Promaster east on NW Fwy when he attempted to avoid striking a white 2013 Isuzu NRR Flatbed Wrecker that was stopped in the right lane and collided with an Odom Utility Trailer being hauled by a white Dodge Ram 4500 driven by Joseph Ramirez around 3:32 p.m.
The collision sent Alonso to hit the rear of the Isuzu and collide with the Isuzu’s driver, Simon Garcia, who was standing outside the driver’s door.
Rescue crews transported Garcia to an area hospital, where he died at 5:48 p.m.
Nobody else was hurt in the collision.
Following the collision, the drivers remained at the scene and did not display signs of impairment.
