1 dead in single-vehicle collision in west Houston

HOUSTON, TX – One person died in a single-vehicle accident in West Houston early Tuesday morning, according to Click 2 Houston.

A man was driving a Dodge Challenger west on the Katy Freeway when he hit a puddle and hydroplaned before slamming into a tree around 2 a.m.

First responders extricated the driver from the Challenger. He died from his injuries.

Paramedics transported the driver’s passenger to an area hospital in stable condition.

Crews closed the area to process the scene. The area was reopened around 6 a.m.
