1 killed, 1 critically hurt as car collides with 18-wheeler in NE Houston
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A two-vehicle crash last Wednesday on the East Sam Houston Parkway in northeast Houston claimed one life and left another person seriously hurt, reports the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal collision took place in the 12100 block of the parkway (Beltway 8) on October 4, at around 3:50 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates a passenger vehicle failed to stop at a red light at an area intersection and was subsequently hit on its right-side door by an 18-wheeler.
First responders pronounced a passenger in the car deceased at the scene.
The causing driver was transported by Life Flight medical helicopter to an area hospital in critical condition.
Officials have not released further information at this time, but an investigation by the HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division remains open and ongoing.
