1 killed, 1 injured as car strikes tree off Allen Genoa Rd in SE Houston
HOUSTON, TX — A single-vehicle accident early Friday in southeast Houston has claimed the life of a 42-year-old man and left another person injured, according to the Houston Police Department.
The accident happened in the 1200 block of Allen Genoa Road at around 1:25 a.m.
An early investigation by the HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division shows the victim was operating a black SUV Verano northbound. At one point, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle traveled off the roadway and into the grassy median, where it collided with a tree.
The male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics, confirmed officials.
His passenger, a 45-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital for injuries considered non-life-threatening.
Authorities continue to investigate.
