1 killed, 2 injured in suspected DWI crash near SE Crosby
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A woman died last Friday, November 17, following a head-on crash on Farm to Market Road 1942 near southeast Crosby, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The fatal wreck took place in the 1600 block of the road, at around 11:47 p.m.
An early investigation found that Romeo Sanchez was driving a black 2016 Nissan Maxima eastbound at the same time Joelle Powell was driving a black 2023 Honda Accord westbound. At one point, Sanchez’s vehicle veered into the westbound lane and struck the Honda Accord.
Powell was pronounced deceased by Crosby Fire Medic 26 about 10 minutes later.
Powell’s front-seat passenger, Jacquell Powell, was rushed to LBJ Hospital with unspecified injuries.
Sanchez, who is believed to have been impaired, was flown by Life Flight to Memorial Herman Medical Center. He has since been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter.
