18-wheeler jackknifes, causing fuel spill on Gulf Fwy near Pecan Park
HOUSTON, TX — A crash involving a jackknifed big rig blocked multiple lanes on the northbound Gulf Freeway Wednesday morning in southeast Houston, reports ABC13.
According to Houston Transtar, the accident occurred just south of Telephone Road, in the city’s Pecan Park area, some time before 2:14 a.m.
Officials have not disclosed the circumstances of the event, but the northbound highway and feeder road were shut down, creating long delays as crews tended to a hazmat spill causing by lost diesel fuel.
By 9:00 a.m., nearly seven hours later, all main lanes of the highway were reopened, but one feeder road lane was still closed.
No injuries or hospital transports from the crash site were immediately reported.
