2 dead, 1 injured after alleged impaired driver hits another vehicle in Midtown
HOUSTON, TX – According to KHOU, two people died and one person was hurt in a suspected DWI crash at Smith Street and Elgin Street on August 2.
Harris County Precinct 7 deputies spotted the driver of a black Ford F-150 collide with two vehicles in a parking lot on Smith Street near Dennis Street around 2 a.m. The deputies attempted to pull the driver over, but he fled and headed south on Smith Street.
The driver struck multiple vehicles while heading south on Smith Street. He ran through red lights until he plowed into a Lexus that had the right of way on Elgin Street.
The collision spun the Lexus around, sending it into a building before it caught fire. First responders pronounced the Lexus’s two occupants dead at the scene.
A woman passenger in the Ford was hospitalized. The extent of her injuries is unknown.
Authorities arrested the F-150 driver and determined he was impaired. He is facing murder charges since he was committing a felony at the time of the crash.
