2 drivers dead after their vehicles collide head-on on SH 99 in Montgomery Co. Saturday

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – Two drivers died in a head-on crash on the Grand Parkway just south of New Caney mid-afternoon on Saturday, reports Click2Houston.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred near Community Drive at around 2:30 p.m.

They say that the driver of a southbound 2008 Chrysler Pacifica lost control and entered the northbound lanes, where they collided head-on with a 2008 GMC Sierra.

Officials identified the Sierra driver only as a 35-year-old resident of New Caney. The man died at the scene.

Emergency crews transported the Pacifica’s driver, a 61-year-old woman from Corrigan, to a hospital after the collision, where she died.

DPS believe that wet road surfaces may have been a factor. They say the Pacifica may have hydroplaned, but they have not confirmed the cause.

Authorities continue to investigate the deadly collision.
