2 HPD officers injured in crash while chasing suspect in Greater Greenspoint
HOUSTON, TX – According to ABC 13, a police chase ended with a crash that injured two police officers near Greenspoint Dr and North Point Dr on Sunday.
Officers saw multiple people driving recklessly in the Greenspoint Mall parking lot around 9 p.m. The officers attempted to pull over a white Suburban SUV that came close to colliding with two other vehicles. The Suburban driver fled the parking lot and drove the wrong way while running several red lights.
During the chase, the officer driving the patrol vehicle lost control, hit a concrete barrier, and collided with a water main before overturning into a ditch with a foot of standing water at the bottom.
First responders transported the two officers to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities ask anyone with information concerning the incident to contact HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division.
