2 officers injured after being hit by alleged drunk driver on 7th St
AUSTIN, TX – Two police officers patrolling on bikes were injured after being struck by an alleged drunk driver in the downtown area early this morning, according to KXAN.
The crash happened in the 600 block of E 7th Street near Red River Street at around 3 a.m. as two officers were patrolling the area on bicycles. They were then struck by a woman suspected of being under the influence.
The two officers were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not suspected of being life-threatening.
The driver was taken into police custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The incident remains under investigation.
