3 hurt when car crashes into Sunnyside area business after police chase
HOUSTON, TX – Three people were injured when a pursuit by Houston police ended in a crash in the Sunnyside area on Sunday night, KHOU reported.
Police said the incident began at about 10 p.m. when an officer spotted a vehicle that had been stolen earlier in the day on Scott Street near Reed Road.
The officer reportedly turned on his lights and siren and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver took off down Scott Street and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a vehicle parked in front of a business near Sparrow Street, then crashed into the building and caught fire.
The driver of the stolen vehicle and two customers at the business were taken to the hospital, but their injuries were not serious.
The driver is facing multiple charges, including reckless driving, felony evading, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
